PETITION of the undersigned parishioners of
Wethersfield, recites that whereas at the Sessions held after the Feast of
the Nativity 1616/17, William Collyn of Wethersfield was indicted for
shooting in a musket at the dog or bitch of Richard Greene of the same and
killing it, it was so that Collyn was going to Greene's house on a message
for his master, wm. Cornell of the same, and was bitten very dangerously in
the face by the bitch, so that he was in peril to have lost one of his
eyeyes, which moved him (although very inadvisedly it must be confessed) to
kill the bitch which he did with his master's musket, now for that collyn is
warned to be at this Sessions and is a very poor man and hath a wife and
three small children and is not worth (to their knowledge) 40s. in the
world, more than a little household stuff which is very mean, they pray that
the court remit his fine wholly or that it may be very small.

in a hutch (standing in the chamber where Ephraim Denny son of the said
informant lodgeth) several pracels of diaper and holland linen, and that

and whereas William Gilson barber, by permission of the informant had lodged

virtue whereof she made search in the house of Thomas Wright of Great Braxtd,

the trunk was his, but what was in it belonged to Gilson who had the key;
the constable thereupon breakng it open, this imformant found two table
cloths of coarse cloth, six diaper napkins and one napkin of "hamborough
cloth", one holland sheet, two pillpw beers and one long diaper cloth cut
into five pieces, and opeining a little wooden box that was locked this
informant found one diaper napkin, which with the goods before mentioned
