Richard is aged 6 in the 1841 census for Doddinghurst, living in Littlechild cottages.
He shows as aged 15 in the 1851 index, still living at home with parents.
In 1851, he is aged 14 and living at home on the farm in Kelvedon Common at Wishfields
In 1861 he is living at Wishfields with his father John. He is now aged 27, still single, and shown as a Farmers son.
In 1871, he is farming at Wishfields Farm, along with his housekeeper, Mary Bull.
Ny 1881, Richard is shown as aged 40 (slightly incorrect), a farmer of 94 acres in Doddinghurst, along with his servant Mary Bull. He is still single.
Ten years later, in 1891, and showing as 20 years older at 60, he is still a farmer in Doddinghurst, and has a new servant , Sarah Helmer ?, aged 46.
There is no sign in 1901, as he dies about this time.
