Apologies for the delay in updates at present, but I suffer from BT Infinity. BT Infinity appear to have a sever shortage of trained engineers, hence my broadband not working for nearly a week, so far. The BT engineer has purportedly fixed the problem, and not bothered to visit. I apologise reservedly for the total lack of care by BT Infinity in this matter of NOT fixing my broadband. Have you tried Virgin broadband, allegedly faster according to Ofcom. I do not think that BT care, but I do!

The links I have created to the Littlechilds of Kelvedon hatch  look something like this. Some of this information is an educated guess that they are related, you will see why.

The history of Kelvedon Hatch

I must point out that nearly all the useful information comes from the above site. But not all.

1901 Census:

William LittleChild -  born 1855 in Kelvedon. And son William born 1881,this should read Brentwood.

!881 Census:

Dwelling: Ongar Rd Pump House Farm - Census Place: Kelvedon Hatch, Essex, England
Source: FHL Film 1341419 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 1741 Folio 23 Page 14

Sarah    LITTLECHILD -  born 1837 in  Kelvedon Common
Jane      LITTLECHILD -  born 1863 in Kelvedon Common
George  LITTLECHILD -  born 1864 in Kelvedon Common
William  LITTLECHILD -  born 1867 in Kelvedon Common
Harriet   LITTLECHILD -  born 1869 in Kelvedon Common
Thomas LITTLECHILD -  born 1871 in Kelvedon Common
Florence LITTLECHILD - born 1872 in Kelvedon Common

I need to confirm whether Kelvedon Common is correct, still! No confirmation as yet.

Also we have:

Sarah Littlechild (widower)           46

Charles                                26

Jane  or Sarah                               21

William                                19

John                                    16

John Haggard (Lodger)        53

As you can see if you compare the 1851 and 1861 census, they are the right names, but in the wrong places. So this is either wrong, or the census details are inaccurate. Lets ignore this record for a moment, and take a look at the Doddinghurst links for John.

John LittleChild was born about 1819, and baptised 29/8/1819  in Doddinghurst.

From the Mormon site which also creates the 1881 Census on CD, which is worth every penny, these links appear.

Charles LITTLECHILD Head M Male 56 Doddinghurst, Essex, England Cowman

George LITTLECHILD Head M Male 54 Doddinghurst, Essex, England Farmer 155 Acres 2 Men
David LITTLECHILD Head U Male 57 Doddinghurst, Essex, England Farmer (176 Acres 5 Men 1 Boy)
William LITTLECHILD Brother U Male 47 Doddinghurst, Essex, England Farmer
Richard LITTLECHILD Head U Male 40 Doddinghurst, Essex, England Farmer Of (94 Acres Employing...)
John LITTLECHILD Head M Male 46 Doddinghurst Publican

This equates to George born 1827. David born 1824. William born 1834, Richard born 1841 and John born 1835. All are farmers, apart from John who runs a PUB!

I must admit that these records don't always show up in the Parish records, which throws some doubt on the validity of some of this as far as place born.

These must be the uncles and fathers of some of the people we are trying to find. They are almost certainly brothers.

We know that David and William are brothers, because it states this, and George matches with the George at the start of this page. So is this John, the same John that we are looking for? I don't think so.

I am really confused now.

Littlechild_dates of birth in Doddinghurst and Kelvedon Hatch

Hooray, I have found a copy of the 1851 census for Kelvedon Hatch! It resides in the Parish Records, and is invaluable in tying a few links.
