In 1871, he is living with parents at Wellesley Road, Brentwood.
In 1881, he is living at the Three Horse Shoes, Brentwood with his Mother Elizabeth.
The 1891 census states Kelvedon, but I am presuming this should read Kelvedon Common. Richard is a railwy labourer. With them in the 1891 census is an 11 year old Elizabeth Cumbers. She is a visitor, born in South Weald
In 1901, Richard is living in Cromwell Road, South Weald with his wife, mother, children and nephew Thomas Cumbers. Richard is a Clatchlayer (Railway). Not quite sure what this means.
Richard married Jane Cross, daughter of Emmanuell Cross and Susan, on 19 Jun 1880 in Brentwood. (Jane Cross was born in 1860 in Great Warley and died in 1932 in Billericay district.)
